If you want to update a contact’s phone number, you'll need to Archive the current contact first, then add a new contact using the updated phone number.
Why?
Phone numbers are unique identifiers in Text Request, and cannot be changed.
You can only choose to delete an incorrect number if it has no message history.
There are a number of ways to set a Contact to Archived, including accessing a Conversation, using Mass Actions for multiple numbers, and simply going through the Contacts menu. Below, we've outlined the most straightforward method.
To Archive a number:
1. Go to the Contacts menu.
2. Select the number you want to archive from the contact list.
3. Switch the contact to the Archived option in the new window that opens.
4. Click SAVE EDITS.
