Security Best Practices

Keeping you and your customers’ data secure is our top priority. Cyber threats are constantly evolving, making account security a full team effort.

Note: The absolute best practice is to go with your gut. If you have any suspicion of something being wrong with your account, contact our support team as soon as possible.

Your Text Request account remains entirely secure as long as you:

  • Log in through official applications

  • Use unique user credentials and profiles

  • Never share credentials with unofficial websites

Follow these best security practices to keep your account safe from unauthorized access and scams.

Spot and Avoid Scams

Scammers use deceptive tactics to try and gain access to your account. The two most common methods are fake login pages and phishing emails.

Fake Login Pages

Scammers set up fake versions of the Text Request login screen that appear toward the top of Google searches. They copy your login credentials once entered and use them to access your real account.

To avoid this, only log in through official Text Request channels:
  • Official Website: textrequest.com
  • Official Login Portal: https://app.textrequest.com/app/login

Phishing Emails

Scammers can email you pretending to be Text Request, asking you to log in to update your payment or billing details.

To determine if an email is real, keep these details in mind:

  • Any communications from Text Request prompting you for billing actions will only be sent to you from billing@textrequest.com.
  • Official billing notifications will always include your actual billing date and the last 4 digits of your credit card on file.

Strengthen Your Login Security

Text Request offers advanced authentication settings to add extra layers of security to your user profiles.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication protects your account with an extra layer of security using randomly generated, six-digit verification codes sent to your device at login. Due to security requirements, all users must utilize MFA when logging in.

Text Request uses SMS Verification to deliver these security codes. You will need a personal mobile number that can receive text messages. You cannot use a Text Request dashboard number to receive codes.

For more information on Multi-Factor Authentication and step-by-step setup, see our help doc.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

Single Sign-On allows users to securely log into Text Request using the same corporate credentials they use for other enterprise applications, such as Google or Microsoft Entra ID.

SSO can be added to any account by an Administrator through the Edit Plan page under the Account menu. Once added to your plan, you can activate it in your settings.

For more information on Single Sign-On and step-by-step setup, see our help doc.

Manage Users and Dashboards

It's important to make sure everyone on your team is on the same page when it comes to account security. Keep these guidelines in mind when managing your account:

  • Don’t share login credentials: Never share a single username and password among multiple users. Sharing logins makes it impossible to securely utilize MFA.
  • Add individual users privately: You can add as many users to your Text Request account as you want at no extra charge on any plan. There is no financial downside to giving every single employee their own unique login profile.
  • Assign correct user permission levels: When adding a new team member, make sure only users who absolutely require full access are made Administrators. The Manager level allows for access to everything except the Account page.
  • Use a secure password manager: We highly recommend that all team members use an encrypted password manager to generate and store complex, unique passwords for their Text Request profiles.

What to Do If Your Account Is Compromised

Sometimes, no matter what you do, bad actors still manage to get in. It's important to remain calm and act on any suspicious activity as soon as possible.

If you suspect that a user login has been exposed, a suspicious link was clicked, or an unauthorized message was deployed from your dashboard, follow these steps:

1. Contact us for emergency support.

    • To immediately stop active fraud, or to protect your data during an active threat, call or text our support team directly at 423-218-0111.

2. Report the activity.

    • Forward any phishing emails or screenshots of fraudulent pages to support@textrequest.com. This allows us to stay informed on what's out there and pursue these bad actors.

3. Reset your password immediately.

    • If logged into Text Request: Click on your profile avatar in the right-hand corner, select Profile Settings, and update your password.

    • If logged out: Go to the official login page and click Forgot your password?.
